VP tours Emirati force unit

MANAMA: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has returned from Bahrain on Tuesday.

He was received at the Dubai International Airport by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, Sheikh Majed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Sheikh Mansour Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sheikh Saeed Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, Mohammad Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Director General of Dubai Ruler’s Court, Juma Al Nabooda and other officials.

Separately, Sheikh Mohammed on Tuesday visited one of the Emirati units in the Peninsula Shield Force in Bahrain.

Lt General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, as well as Lt General Misbah Rashid Al Fattan, Director of the Office of Sheikh Mohammed were accompanying him.

Sheikh Mohammed and his entourage were received by Field Marshal Sheikh Khalifa Bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), Lt General Hamad Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces and a number of senior Military officials.

Sheikh Mohammed listened to a military briefing on a number of topics and military tasks of the joint forces. He hailed the bravery and the competency of military unit members who fulfill their national duties with utmost efficiency, stressing the brotherly relations between UAE and Bahrain on all levels. He also wished them good luck and blessings in their endeavors in defending the peace in the region.

Later, Sheikh Mohammed was presented a commemorative plaque depicting an old picture of him and King of Bahrain Hamad Bin Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa dating back to 1973 during his visit to Bahrain. He expressed gratitude and said the plaque holds sentimental value for him.
