Weekly Best Camp Award launched

Manama, Dec24(BNA) A weekly BD1000 prize has today been launched to reward the best camp. The award has been named after His Majesty’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, also Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President.

Southern Governor Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al-Khalifa, Head of the Supreme Camping Committee, announced the award in a press conference which was held at the governorate’s headquarters in Awali. Deputy Governor Faisal bin Rashid Al-Nuaimi, HH Shaikh Nasser’s Media Office Director Tawfeeq Al-Salhi and Campers Services Centre director, Southern Governorate Investment Development Department Mohammed Al-Sisi were also present.
Southern Governor Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al-Khalifa has also announced that the top six camps would each be presented with a cash award worth BD500 at the end of the camping season. “The award aims at encouraging campers to commit to safety standards and protect the environment and avoid violations”, he said, adding that the prize would be characterized by transparency, credibility and fairness equality.

A ten-member jury would be set up to ensure the probity and the transparency of the weekly award. The panel will include HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Office, the Campers Services Centre, the Southern Municipality, the Southern Police Directorate, the General Directorate of Traffic, the Civil Defence Directorate, the National Guard, the Ministry of Health, a company operating at Bahrain Field at the vicinity of the camping zone, and the Environment Executive Agency.
