What is Bahrain’s first priority?

After a long lifetime carefully observing American politics, I still wonder if Washington is deliberately creating chaos and havoc in the world. Or is it simple naivety that always ends with tragic results for many unfortunate nations at the receiving end of its misguided policies?

From slogans of a ‘new world order’, to globalisation, roadmaps, the Arab Spring – name them and they are there. But they have led this world nowhere!

Columnist Robert Fisk recently observed that American ‘democracy’ in Iraq has brought nothing but horror and havoc to a nation promised liberalisation, justice, peace and prosperity. In fact Iraqis have seen nothing but their country falling to pieces!

Last year alone, more than 1,200 men and women were summarily executed by the appointed puppet government of Al Maliki, who is fully backed by the United States of America.

The same report reveals that another 500 hapless souls languish on the ‘Death List’ for extermination this year. All taking place with deafening silence from America’s administration.

Shamefully, until now, the Western media has labelled such atrocities part of the ‘Arab Spring’. Death and destruction? What’s Spring-like about that?

Samuel Johnson, father of the English Dictionary, will be turning in his grave at the word ‘spring’ being linked to blood and ashes!

However, what shocked me more were Russia’s revelations a few days ago that America had planned, through Egypt’s ousted president Mohamed Mursi, to dismantle Egyptian armed forces along the same lines as what happened in Iran 35 years ago, when imperial forces were totally neutralised and disarmed by Nato’s military chief, who visited Tehran secretly, persuading top Iranian officers to avoid so-called civil war.

In that tragedy, all the top brass officers, who were graduates of Western universities, were arrested, and without trial, shot in the back of their heads! All during the first week of Khomeini’s arrival in Tehran.

We go back to the same question. Is this American planning, or American indifference?

No matter how small an incident happening in Bahrain, US human rights organisations and ‘watchdogs’ immediately start barking. But why are such self-righteous groups silent about Iraq? The answer is very simple, because US policymakers have not ordered them to react.

The world is not stupid, but perhaps weak. But just because America is strong, does that mean it can be cruel to the weak with impunity.

Every country affected by the Arab Spring had jobs, bread, stability and a future. But now they are left facing catastrophe.

We in Bahrain have a parliament, jobs, free education and medical services, housing, sufficient bread on tables, together with a future to look forward to for our children and grandchildren. Why then are we still suffering from the irresponsible behaviour of a few thugs in the streets attacking innocent policemen?

The reason is quite obvious, because until now the United States and many western European countries are backing such anarchists in the name of human rights – as long as it serves their interests.

Bahrain has been infected with a heavy burden – as a scapegoat to agitate and disturb the rest of the GCC’s wealthy states.

In the US, if a police officer orders any person to ‘Freeze!’, he or she will be shot on the spot for disobeying. Here, when similar warnings are issued, anarchists react as they did last week, by driving straight at the police officers, with murderous intent! Strangely, why does the West not condemn such crimes? In their own countries police action is a form of justice. In Bahrain however, they see it differently. What double standards!

With all these facts in mind, one asks what Bahrain’s first priority really is – strict law and order or surrendering to the West’s will?
