What’s in the news

THE British School of Bahrain’s Year Five students got a first-hand experience on how news is broadcast when they visited Bahrain Television as part of their Humanities topic ‘What’s in the News’.

Students visited the old news studio and control room, where they learnt how a presenter reads the script and how the director gives cues.

Everything was programmed in high-definition at the state-of-the-art television studio, said the trip organisers.

“The students saw live how sports commentary is presented and where news is reported from,” they added.

“One of the highlights of the trip was when the students were invited to watch the news bulletin being presented live.
“They impressed the directors and presenters by staying totally silent during the broadcast.”
