Manama – 23 October, 2014
Zain Bahrain, the leading telecommunications operator in the Kingdom of Bahrain, took part in ‘The Second Exhibition for Women and Labor – Opportunities and Choices’, held at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre.
The participation underscores Zain Bahrain’s commitment to empowerment through education with over 60 private and government entities taking part in the three-day event that aims to highlight job opportunities in the Kingdom. The event was held under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa.
“We are very proud of our achievements at Zain Bahrain. Our strong female workforce has a string of accomplishments under their belts. We boast a team of 39 female employees holding significant leadership and executive posts. We are also honored that our Corporate Communications Manager, Samya Hussain, and IT Director, Khawla Allan, are among the top 50 females in the telecom industry across the region,” said the Human Resource Manager at Zain Bahrain, Dana Bukhammas.
“For the past six years, seven of our female employees have been honored as ‘Best Employees’ and ‘Distinguished Leaders’ by the Ministry of Labor. Also, Amina Al Hawaj – a leading Bahraini Inventor and one of our employees – received the Efficient Badge from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa,” she added.
“Zain Bahrain also focuses on supporting women development initiatives and has provided the needed support for three selected female employees to be part of the MEPI USA program,” added Bukhammas.
“Our participation in the Second Exhibition for Women and Labor is our gateway in attracting future talents and during the event we ran an innovative personality assessment, the Sicomatrix Examination, developed by Amina Al Hawaj. The tests allowed us to understand applicants overall potential by looking into their strengths and weaknesses. We are also able to assess their skills and workplace suitability,” she added.
Zain Bahrain also showcased its unique work experience program called the Future University Network (F.U.N.) which aims to mentor and teach young Bahrainis. The one-of-a-kind program, launched back in 2008, provides young Bahrainis hands-on job experience allowing them to integrate organically into the job market. The FUN program is one of the leading and most engaging Youth Development Platforms in the Kingdom.
