MANAMA: The Prime Minister of Bahrain, Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, yesterday issued Edict 29 for 2014 stipulating mechanisms for appointments in senior government positions, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) said yesterday.

The provisions of the edict apply to all the holders of senior government positions and those nominated to such ranks and appointed by royal decrees or by edicts issued by the premier.

The new measures apply to the positions of ministry undersecretaries, assistant undersecretaries and directors and those under their authority.

The edict stipulates the establishment of a committee called ‘Committee for regulating appointments to senior Government positions’.

Chaired by the Civil Service Council vice-chairman, the panel will include the Minister of State for Follow-up Affairs, the Premier’s Court chief, First Deputy Premier’s Office director-general, Head of Civil Service Bureau and Public Administration director-general as members. The panel will seek views of experts and specialists without granting them a voice in its deliberations.
