Bahrain sport: Yousef clinches under-16 title

Yousef Dhaif claimed the U-16 boys title of the fourth E.K. Kanoo Junior Open Tennis Championship 2016 yesterday at Bahrain Tennis Club in Juffair. 

Yousef defeated Hamad Abdul A’al 6-2, 7-5 in the final to claim the title. 

The champion lifted the title after beating off Nihal Mohammed 6-3, 6-2 in the quarterfinals  and, later, powering past Hassan Al Qattan 6-1, 6-2 in the semifinals. 

His final opponent, Hamad Abdul A’al, edged Saleh Al Matar 6-1, 4-6, 10-6 in the quarterfinal and outplayed Avneet Singh 6-2, 6-1 in the last four clash. 

Meanwhile, Darion Ali won the 9-10 years unisex title after defeating Esa Al Qattan 7-5 in the final. 

In his first match, Darion saw off Manners Tristan 7-5 and went on to blank Hamad Khalifa 7-0 in the second round. Darion later claimed wins against Kishan Pagadala and Riku Takano in the quarterfinals and semifinals with scores of 7-2 and 7-5 respectively. 

Esa got a walkover against Fady Shaheer in the first round and then went on to beat Sarwani Basem 7-0. Esa defeated Sushmitha 7-3 in the quarterfinal and moved past Rohan Mukherjee 7-2 in the semifinal.

The awards ceremony was attended by E.K Kanoo Group Director Talal Fuad Kanoo, Khalid Fuad Kanoo from Kanoo Group, E. K Kanoo Sales Manager Ayman Shehadeh, BTC President Khamis Al Muqla and BTC’s Dr Faisal Al Mosawi.
