Bahrain teams lift badminton titles

The Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation teams won honours across the board at the Second IBAK-KBF GCC Invitational Tournament in Kuwait.

They won the overall team title, level two men’s doubles title and both singles and doubles titles in the under-17 boys category.

The team competition comprised 10 teams – three from Kuwait, two each from Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar and one from Bahrain with over 200 players in the fray.

Bahrain won the title beating the UAE 4-1 in the final.

Heri Setiawan was runner-up in mens’ singles and second runner-up in men’s doubles Level One with Suneet Sebastian. 

In the Masters men’s doubles Jayakumar P and Bader (Kuwait) were runners-up with Rixon Rebello and Suneet Sebastian second runners-up.

Doubles

Jayashree and Sandra Sakariya (KSA) took the women’s  doubles runners-up spot while Amy Suneet and Leanne Suneet were the second runners-up in the under-14 girls’ doubles.

Vimal Jayakumar and Arjun (UAE) were the second runners-up in the under-12 boys’ doubles.

The successful Bahrain squad comprised of Rixon Rebello (captain), Heri Setiawan, Suneet Sebastian, James Varghese, Vishnu Sreekumar, Rohit Jayakumar, Adnan Ehsan, Elyas Ehsan, Jayakumar P and Jayashree Nair with Jayakumar Raveendran was team manager.
