Bahraini poets honoured

Manama, June 14 (BNA)– Bahrain honoured yesterday Bahraini poet Mohammed bin Shakhir Al Arjani who grabbed fourth place in the sixth edition of ” The Poet of the Million” competition as well as other Bahraini poets who took part in previous editions.


The honouring ceremony was held in Shaikh Abdulaziz Hall at the University of Bahrain (UoB), in the Presence of Personal Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and dignitaries. It was patronised by SCYS First Deputy Chairman and President of Bahrain Athletics Association Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

Shaikh Khalid emphasised the importance of supporting Bahraini poets who had a remarkable presence in various poetry events at the Arab and Gulf levels. He described the honour as a practical embodiment of the royal reform projects which asserts the need to support culture, literature and the popular heritage.

He paid tribute to Shaikh Nasser for his unwavering support to Bahraini youngsters to further tap on their inner potentials and creativity and help them lift Bahrain’s name high in various local, regional, Arab and international events.

At the end of the celebration, Shaikh Khalid honoured the Bahraini poets and congratulated them, urging them to continue the path of creativity and excellence.
