TWO bills were yesterday referred by the Shura Council to His Majesty King Hamad for ratification.
Shura Council members approved Bahrain’s plans to join the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (Solas) and a mutual investment agreement with Pakistan.
They postponed discussions on another investment agreement with Russia for further review.
The council also issued a statement on the 34th anniversary of the formation of the GCC.
Meanwhile, two proposed bills have been referred to committees for further study.
Amendments to the Political Societies Law that prohibit clergymen from being members of political societies has been referred to the legislative and legal affairs committee.
Amendments to the private educational institutions law have been referred to the services committee for review.
The council’s general-secretariat also met after the weekly session and accepted a report on revamping support directed to journalists and media personnel from first vice-chairman Jamal Fakhro.
