Bahrain: 3 arrested in connection to bombing

MANAMA, Bahrain — Bahrain says authorities have arrested three suspects in connection with a bombing last week outside a mosque near the royal residences in the Gulf kingdom. Bahraini parliamentarian’s house attacked for second time

ABU DHABI (Reuters) - Assailants attacked the home of a Bahraini member of parliament with petrol bombs on Sunday for the second time in a week, the state news agency BNA said, the latest in a series of assaults on public officials and security personnel in the kingdom. The most recent attack on the home of Abbas Isa al-Madi, chairman of parliament's Services Committee, follows one on July 15 in which was no one was hurt. BAHRAIN's Albert Rop set a new national record in the men's 5,000 metres late Friday night at the Herculis meeting in Monaco. BAHRAINI authorities are attempting to eradicate a pest that threatens to wipe out the country's palm trees. The pilot project aims to exterminate the red palm weevil, which is a small beetle that burrows into palm trees, lays its eggs and decimates them by hollowing out the trunk.
