Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham on Tuesday considered terrorism and extremism as the “main challenges in the region,” adding “all regional countries must prioritize fighting against the root causes of such threats as their top security policies.”
Two Bahraini policemen were killed and six were wounded in a bomb attack south of Bahrain’s capital Manama on Tuesday.
Afhkam further expressed hope that fighting Takfiri terrorism and extremism would be paid serious heed by all countries in the region.
The Iranian official dismissed state media propaganda that claimed the explosives used in the blast were similar to those recently seized by Bahraini security forces after allegedly being smuggled from Iran.
On Sunday, Afkham rejected Bahrain’s unfounded and repeated allegations over Iran’s interference in its internal affairs saying, “it is obvious that the Bahraini government intends to cause tension in the region by repeating baseless accusations.”
