Karting Sprint Championship Set for Exciting Night

Manama, Oct. 31. (BNA) — Plenty of action and excitement await race fans in round four of the 2012/201 Bahrain Karting Sprint Championship, which takes place Thursday (November 1) at Bahrain International Circuit’s world-class VIVA Karting Track in Sakhir.
The meeting will feature action in both the Bahrain Rotax Mojo Max Championship (BRMMC) and the Sodi Sprint W Series (SSWS).
The BRMMC is reserved for Rotax kart owners who will be able to choose their competition class based on the specific sporting rules of their category.
The classes include the Mini Max, Junior Max, Max and DD2.
The SSWS, meanwhile, is a commercial arrive-and-drive category, where karts will be provided by the championship organiser. Participants will be able to choose from two classes of competition, namely the Sprint Cup or the Master Cup, both of which have their own specific rules.

Registration for BRMMC drivers competing on Thursday can be done on site from 5.30pm onwards, while SSWS competitors can sign in from 6.15pm. Technical scrutineering will take place before the first group of karters gets out on track for a warm-up session at 6.35pm.

Action will then heat up at 7.30pm when qualifying for the SSWS takes place.

Two races in each class of the BRMMC will then be held over the course of the evening, along with another two races in the SSWS.

All are welcome to attend the event. Entrance to VIVA Karting Track is free of charge.

Thursday’s meeting is set to be an ideal venue for some of the championship’s drivers to prepare for their participation in the upcoming CIK-FIA U18 World Karting Championship and CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy, which takes place November 8 to 10 at the same venue.

The world championship and academy trophy will be the biggest karting event ever to be held in the Middle East, and it will feature close to 140 of the world’s most talented young drivers aged between 15 and 18.

It will also be the first major international karting race to take place at BIC’s 1.414-kilometre Commission Internationale de Karting (CIK) track.

After the world championship and academy trophy, the Bahrain Karting Sprint Championship resumes next month with the season’s fifth round scheduled to take place on December 13.

Round six will then be the first meeting of the new calendar year on January 24; while round seven will be held on February 7. The eighth and penultimate event will take place February 21, to be followed by the season’s ninth and final meeting on March 7.
