MANAMA: Lasting peace and stability in the region is the ultimate GCC goal, said the Crown Prince yesterday.

This came as His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, met US Ambassador William Roebuck, at Gudaibiya Palace.

The Crown Prince praised the longstanding ties between Bahrain and the US and stressed that bilateral co-operation continues to grow in various fields, including economic and
political affairs.

He also underlined the importance of the strategic relationship between the GCC and the US and its important role in achieving long-term stability and prosperity in the region.

The Crown Prince welcomed the outcome of the GCC-US summit at Camp David and noted the opportunities it presented to discuss ways to further strengthen co-operation and address regional and international security issues.

Mr Roebuck expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the opportunity to meet the Crown Prince and welcomed his interest and support in further enhancing relations between Bahrain and the US.
