Manama Summit convenes at critical times in the region: Qatari newspaper says

Doha: Dec. 23 — (BNA) The Qatari Arabic-speaking daily newspaper (Al-Sharq) has accentuated this morning that the 33rd GCC Summit, of their Majesties and their Highnesses the GCC Leaders, due to be hosted in the Kingdom of Bahrain tomorrow (Monday 24 December), convenes under extremely critical circumstances in the region which increases its importance, outcomes and resolutions.

The Qatari daily newspaper, in its editorial, stated that the GCC leaders are expected to discuss during the Summit important dossiers including boosting GCC joint work, current developments in Syria, Palestine and in Arab Spring countries as well as regional situation and the outcome of the GCC Initiative in Yemen and other issues in the region which make the nation look forward to the GCC leaders for their political wisdom and leading initiatives in supporting the peoples and the cause of the Arab and the Islamic nation at all regional and international functions where the presence of GCC states has become effective and influential which reflects their unique position in the world.

Al-Sharq added that the 33rd GCC Summit constitutes a step forwards in the GCC joint work march especially as the dossiers in its agenda include a large number of join work projects ion political, socio-economic, security aspects such as defense cooperation, the Gulf Customs’ Union and the free movement of citizens and goods.

The Qatari newspaper (Al-Shareq) explained that all resolutions expected to be issued from this Summit by their Majesties and their Highnesses the GCC leaders will contribute in more progress, prosperity, security and stability to achieve aspirations of the Gulf peoples.

The Qatari newspaper pointed out that a large media presence during the Manama Summit is expected as more than 400 journalists and media representatives will partake in the Summit news coverage which is indicative of the great significance and effective role of the GCC states both regionally and worldwide.(IY)
