Meeting boosts Thai ties

BAHRAINI-THAI relations received a major boost yesterday as Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa met Thai Premier Yingluck Shinawatra in Bangkok.

The Premier praised results of the Bahraini-Thai Supreme Committee’s meetings, which ended yesterday.

Shaikh Khalid conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander.

The Bahraini-Thai Supreme Committee forms the framework of bilateral relations and works to raise mutual co-operation and co-ordination between the two countries in areas of commerce, industry and investment.

Shaikh Khalid stressed the importance of developing existing partnership between the two countries, particularly in areas of food security, energy and medical tourism.

The Thai Premier hailed Bahrain’s interest in consolidating the partnership between the two countries and commended the development of relations between Asean and GCC states.
