Official receives GCC Humanitarian Award

AJMAN: Sheikh Nahyan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, has been awarded the Humanitarian Work Award of the Gulf Cooperation Council for Arab States, GCC, in recognition of his significant local, regional and international humanitarian roles.

The award was received on his behalf by Abdul Redha Abdullah Mahmoud Khouri, UAE Ambassador to Bahrain, in a ceremony organised by the Regional Network for Social Responsibility in Bahrain last Wednesday to honour the winners of the 4th GCC Humanitarian Award. The event was held under the patronage of Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalid Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Bahrain.

Prof Yousef Abdul Ghafar Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Regional Network for Social Responsibility, said the Board honoured the winners for their outstanding humanitarian roles.   

Along with Sheikh Nahyan, the award, in its 4th edition, also named Sheikh Khalid Al Faisal Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, Governor of Makkah and Director-General of King Faisal International Foundation; Sheikh Khalid Bin Ali Al Khalifa, Bahraini Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Awqaf, Dr Abdullah Al Matouq, Humanitarian Affairs Advisor to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait; Dr Khalid Bin Mohammed Al Attiyah, Qatar Foreign Minister and Chairman of Qatar Fund for Development and Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalili, the General Mufti of Oman, as winners of the award.

Dr Sheikh Abdul Al Aziz Bin Ali Al Nuaimi, Ajman Government’s Advisor for Environmental Affairs and Secretary-General of Al Ihsan Charity Society, won the award for ‘distinguished non-government organisation’.
