The Bahrain Institute for Political Development and the Supreme Council for Women on Sunday (October 21st) signed a co-operation agreement to implement a women’s political empowerment programme, Akhbar al-Khaleej newspaper reported.
The programme is one of the national consensus recommendations, the newspaper said.
The women’s political empowerment programme is aimed at encouraging Bahraini women to take part in elections, both as voters and candidates.
Dr. Issa Ahmed al-Khayat, Executive Manager of the Bahrain Institute for Political Development, said the programme is based on five main points — training and rehabilitation, support of women in media, training of campaigning teams, election awareness and documentation.
