Bahrain gets ready for final rehearsal at Gulf Cup venues


Tickets for the 21st Gulf Cup, scheduled to take place in Bahrain from January 5 to 18 next month, will be soon on sale at different locations across the kingdom.

These tickets will be available at the National Stadium, Khalifa Sports City as well as several shopping malls in Bahrain, to be announced at a later date. According to Stadiums Committee head Khalid Al Haj, the tickets have been just printed and are now ready to be distributed by Greek firm ‘Tickethours’.

This was announced during the Stadiums Committee meeting, chaired by Al Haj, in the presence of committee deputy head Hussain Al Omari, Hamad Al Hamad, Ahmed Al A’ali, Reda Ali, Mohammed Ahmed, Hameed Al Fardan, Sudhair and Mona Al Ghatam.

Al Haj said the committee has submitted a proposal to the organising committee to determine more locations for tickets sales, stressing that the co-ordination is underway with the organising committee to select these venues and should be revealed to the public soon.

Al Haj also briefed the committee members on the training workshop organised by the Greek company for a group of Bahraini volunteers to manage tickets sales.

He noted that the Stadiums Committee has started preparing the National Stadium and Khalifa Sports City Stadium, besides other stadiums that will host GCC teams training sessions during the tournament.

The committee head said that Bahrain’s upcoming friendly matches against Burkina Faso and Guinea on December 26 and 28 at the National Stadium should be a final rehearsal for the committee before tournament kick-off.

During the meeting, the committee representatives also reviewed plans and programmes of ‘ifix’ and ‘Basba’ companies, which are responsible of maintenance and cleaning the stadium if needed.

Meanwhile, more than 2,500 visiting visas have been issued for some of the delegations coming to Bahrain next month for the 21st edition cup.

Public Relations Committee head Mohammed Qassim said the visas were for non-GCC citizens, representing different media sources as well as administrative and technical teams officials traveling along with their GCC teams.

Elsewhere, the first batch of advertising boards promoting the upcoming Gulf Cup tournament have been fixed in different locations across Bahrain.

Executive secretary of the organising committee Maryam Yousef said these boards, which wsere installed as part of the committee campaign to promote this much-awaited football competition.

She said that more of these board will soon be placed in other areas to cover most of Bahrain’s five governorates and should be completed in time for the start of the championship.

On its part, the Accommodation and Hospitality Committee will hold a joint meeting with the Public Relations and Transports Committees to co-ordinate the mechanism of GCC teams accommodation during the tournament, and in accordance to the available hotels which have been approved by the organising committee.

Accommodation and Hospitality Committee executive secretary Elham Abulsaud said the a number of topics on its agenda as well as other technical matters related to their plans in preparation for the GCC delegations arrival early next month.
