(With photos) MANAMA, Dec 23 (KUNA) — All citizens of the Gulf are anticipating new resolutions from this upcoming GCC Summit in a way that would meet their expectations, Bahraini Minister of State for Media Affairs Samira Rajab said here Sunday.
Rajab, also the government’s spokesperson, made her remarks after inaugurating the media center and exhibition held for covering the 33rd GCC Summit. The Summit is due to commence tomorrow.
Voicing content over such Gulf “union”, Rajab saw that having the GCC bloc to last for 33 years “is an achievement by itself. And moving from the phase of cooperation to being a union is of the Council’s recent fortifying steps.” Rajab added that in light of sound infrastructure throughout GCC countries, economic integration and a unified military command are close at hand.
Rajab then toured the center, which is fully-equipped to serve some 400 Arab and foreign reporters who came to cover the Summit.
The Summit will be held in the Bahraini capital, Manama, on December 24-25 and will focus on issues pertaining to GCC development and cooperation. Chief amongst those issues is the proposed Gulf Union by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia. (end) kt KUNA 232209 Dec 12NNNN
