Bahraini fighter crashes in Saudi Arabia during airstrike raid

A Bahraini jet fighter taking part in bombings against Yemeni rebels has been filmed crashing into a field in Saudi Arabia.

The burning F-16 Fighter suffered a technical malfunction before spiralling towards the earth and crashing in a township near the port city of Jizan, Reuters reports.

The pilot survived the crash.

Video of the incident was uploaded to Twitter by Pakistani aid worker Khalid Khan on Wednesday.

Yemen has been embroiled in civil war since the start of 2015, with the country currently divided between Houthi rebels, forces loyal to current president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, and other forces loyal to former president Ali Abdullah Saleh.

Bahrain is part of a 34 member Saudi-led coalition that has bombed Houthi rebels since March.

The coalition supports President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who was forced into exile in Saudi Arabia in March after rebels took control of capital Aden.
