Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, will increase its flights between the Gulf kingdom and Hyderabad to meet rising demand.

The airline said in a statement that it will upgrade the service to daily from five weekly flights from December 2.

Catering to over 5 million Indian nationals residing in the Gulf region, Gulf Air said it has provided direct air services between India and Bahrain since 1960.

Gulf Air’s acting chief commercial officer, Ahmed Janahi, said: “Gulf Air’s increased Hyderabad service will mean a greater connection to one of our national carrier’s newest and most successful routes.

“We are always looking to satisfy the high demand to and from Hyderabad and cater to passenger needs on this popular route. With daily flights between Bahrain and Hyderabad we are offering enhanced schedule flexibility for our travellers.”

In October, Gulf Air announced that it is to add two new destinations in Pakistan.

The addition of direct services to the cities of Faisalabad and Multan are scheduled to launch in December.

The airline will operate four weekly direct flights to Multan and three weekly services to Faisalabad, it added.

In September, Gulf Air said that it had cut its losses by more than 32 percent to BD62.7 million ($166.2 million) in the past year.
