A court in Bahrain on Thursday cleared 21 medics of charges linked to antigovernment protests in 2011, said a defense lawyer, Abdulla al-Shamlawi. Arrests of dozens of medical workers were part of the crackdown by Bahrain’s Sunni rulers after an uprising began in 2011 by majority Shiites seeking a greater political voice. People in Bahrain have held a funeral procession for a 35-year-old protester who was killed by regime forces. On Wednesday, hundreds attended the funeral ceremony of Jaffar Jassim al-Taweel in Sitra village, south of the capital, Manama.
